Press play, then take the voice away.

Both stems were separated from one public-domain recording by karanow. Your Mac does this live, to whatever is playing. Credits

01Desktop lyrics

Lyrics, scrolling on your desktop.

A floating layer over whatever else is open — the tab you are singing along to does not have to be the window in front.

Over anything you happen to be doing

02How it works

Three steps. None of them file management.

  1. 01

    Play something

Anything that makes sound — Apple Music, Spotify, a browser tab. Nothing to import.

  2. 02

    Press the button

The lead vocal comes out, on your Mac, about two seconds later. The band keeps playing.

  3. 03

    Sing

Lyrics and the pitch line follow the backing track. Slide the original vocal back in whenever you want it.

03Features

What’s in it

A slider, not a switch
Blend the original vocal back at any level, from the same separation pass.
Lyrics that check themselves
Candidates are matched against album, duration and version tags before they are trusted.
A pitch line it learned
Sing a song once; the next play shows 7.5 seconds of the line ahead of you.
Takes that line up
Recordings map file time to song time. Start mid-chorus; it still fits.
Mics ranked by closeness
iPhone, then a plugged-in mic, then the built-in one. No app on the phone.
Inputs it refuses
Bluetooth headset mics and loopback devices. Both wreck what they listen to.
Menu bar, two languages
Controls without the window in front. 简体中文 and English.
Three themes
Every text pair checked against WCAG, in all six light-and-dark combinations.

04Privacy

The audio never leaves the Mac.

Processed in memory, then dropped
A rolling window. Never written, never uploaded.
Only text goes out
Title, artist, album, duration — to match lyrics. Nothing else.
Recordings stay local
m4a files on your Mac. Delete them whenever you like.
Transcription is off
Until you switch it on. On-device, macOS 26 or later.
